Cutting-Edge Procedures to Treat Hair Loss Without the Cutting

As technology improves, so does our ability to improve results. Today, using state-of-the-art robotic technology, we can perform hair restoration techniques that provide permanent, natural solutions to hair loss and baldness.

Robotic Hair Transplant in Los Angeles

ARTAS in Your 20’s and 30’s

A large portion of our practice serves guys in their 20’s and 30’s. Hair loss is often the most rapid in the late teens through 20’s so it’s not surprising that many young men seek solutions before they lose more hair. Before robotic hair restoration, there really weren’t any great options for young guys to get totally natural results with a low impact and low downtime procedure without significant scarring. Also, many hairstyles today are short on the sides and back, so a strip procedure or a large gauge manual FUE procedure are just are not acceptable for many in their 20’s and 30’s. Over and over again our patients in this age range feel like they are the only ones who present to a hair restoration center, but it’s just not the case. Over 50% of our patients are in this age range.

Subtle Hairline Restoration

Our other 50% are in their 40’s and up, many of whom have had the strip or another older procedure since there were no better options at the time – and now they want to get more hair without going through the type of procedure they had before. For many in their 20’s and 30’s, their hair loss has not progressed too far yet, and we specialize in subtle hairline restoration or thickening up the crown area. There is no sense in waiting for hair loss to progress to a certain point to take action. Once you can see the scalp through the hair, more than 50% of the hairs in that area have already been lost! Dr. Rome is a young doctor, himself in his 30s, and really enjoys treating this age group. Dr. Rome worked previously at another practice performing robotic hair restoration and has successfully restored hundreds of young guy’s hair even before installing his robot here in Beverly Hills. If you are considering this procedure, we encourage you to come in for a complimentary consultation to meet Dr. Rome and learn about your options. You have your entire life ahead of you and in this day and age there is no reason to accept “going bald”.

ARTAS Robotic Hair Restoration for Afrocentric Hair

The ARTAS robotic procedure is FDA cleared for Caucasian males with dark straight hair. While there are many Caucasian males with dark straight hair who could benefit from robotic restoration, there are many more men and women with all types of hair who need restoration and do not want to settle for inferior hair transplant methods. Just because the robot is cleared for this particular subset of the human population, does not preclude us from using it off-label to treat many more individuals. Since the landmark studies were performed on Caucasian males with dark straight hair, all of the evidence submitted to the FDA was for this subgroup, therefore, the clearance was given to treat this same population. However, we at the Robotic Hair Restoration Center have mastered using this amazing technology on men and women of all hair types.

Expertise With Afrocentric Hair Restoration

Afrocentric hair (African and Caribbean ancestry) is thick and very curly, and under the skin often bends creating a challenge for hair restoration doctors who are not experienced with harvesting this type of hair. Fortunately, Dr. Rome and his team have many years of expertise with Afrocentric restoration and have learned to adapt techniques of robotic hair restoration to be very successful. These cases are more of a challenge, but we enjoy a good challenge and we take our time with them, often staging the larger cases (doing them in 2 sittings vs just one). In addition, placement, especially hairline placement, is crucial for individuals with Afrocentric hair since the hair is often worn short and the hairline is maintained straighter than the Caucasian hairline. In addition, temporal (side) recession is often less tolerated than it is in Caucasians, so this must be addressed appropriately. Finally, hypertrophic scarring and keloid formation is more common, so special precautions must be taken – for example, we routinely mix a bit of liquid steroid in our numbing solution to dampen the strong healing response responsible for scarring.

ARTAS After the Strip

A large portion of our practice is treating guys who have had one, two, or even three strip procedures in the past with robotic hair restoration. Many centers will tell guys they are not candidates for robotic FUE if they’ve had a strip before since it is off-label, but only part of that is true – the part that it is off-label. Being off-label doesn’t preclude us from giving men who have had a strip procedure before a better procedure to gain more hair.

We understand how to use our robotic system to work around strip scars and have even had success filling in the scars with follicular unit grafts so the hair can once again be worn short! It is important to go to a practice that has a lot of experience performing ARTAS after a strip as you likely have limited donor graft availability left from your previous procedure(s) so it is of utmost importance to be extra careful with harvesting your remaining grafts.

ARTAS Robotic Hair Restoration for Women

Female pattern hair loss is a big deal and not talked about nearly as much as male pattern hair loss despite how common it truly is. We have treated successfully many women with the robotic system to give them thicker hairlines, and more volume in the mid scalp – both common areas for hair loss in women. A big misconception women have is that they would be required to shave their head for this sort of procedure. That is not the case. We will buzz just a small portion in the back of the head which is easily concealed when the hair is down. Even when the hair is up in a ponytail, the donor buzzed site is not noticeable since there is often long hair below the area we trim as well.

Female Hairline Restoration

While the ARTAS robotic hair restoration system is FDA cleared for men, we have been using it with great success for women as well. It is off-label of course but that doesn’t preclude us from getting great results! Women deserve the best treatments available too and now they can get it from an experienced ARTAS center like ours. The feminine hairline is crucial in hair restoration and we understand how to approach and restore it naturally. Whereas a male hairline goes back then forward on the sides, the female hairline is rounded and softer. It is important that your hair restoration surgeon and team have experience with female hair restoration and have used the ARTAS system on women before. Women also often respond quite well to low-level laser therapy.

ARTAS Robotic Hair Restoration for Asian and Indian Hair

The ARTAS robotic procedure is FDA cleared for Caucasian males with dark straight hair. This said we have treated off-label many guys with Asian and Asian Subcontinent heritage with the ARTAS robotic system. We understand how to treat all hair types with the robotic platform, and modified our techniques to treat Asian hair. For example, the angles the hair grows out of the head are often much steeper in Asian and Indian hair, but we can adjust to get excellent grafts just the same.

In fact, our upgraded robot has the ability to increase its angle of approach much better than the previous system many centers still use. This helps us harvest Asian hair much easier than we could have before. In addition, Asian hair tends to have much smaller follicular unit groupings than Caucasian hair, so understanding natural hair distribution is crucial in gaining an acceptable aesthetic outcome. We are among a select few centers that are comfortable with treating Asian and Indian hair with the ARTAS robotic system. You do not have to settle for an inferior procedure.

ARTAS ROBOTIC HAIR RESTORATION FOR TRANSITIONING MEN AND WOMEN

Hormone replacement and cosmetic surgery have significant roles in transsexual reassignment procedures, but so does hair restoration. For Male to Female (MTF) patients, the male pattern hairline is often unacceptable. We can create a female pattern hairline by robotically harvesting individual hairs from the back of the head and placing them in the front and sides to round and feminize the facial hair framing. For Female to Male (FTM) patients, facial hair is often desired to complete their transformation. We can provide you with beard and mustache hair you can grow, shave, or trim in any fashion you desire.

Hair patterns have a significant role in sexual identification, and without a transplantation procedure, many feel their transformation is incomplete. Let us have the privilege of helping you complete your transformation!
